A BILL to repeal §30‑9‑2, §30‑9‑3, §30‑9‑4, §30‑9‑5, §30‑9‑6, §30‑9‑7, §30‑9‑8, §30‑9‑9, §30‑9‑10, §30‑9‑11, §30‑9‑12, §30‑9‑13, §30‑9‑14, §30‑9‑15, §30‑9‑16, §30‑9‑17, §30‑9‑18, §30‑9‑19, §30‑9‑20, §30‑9‑21, §30‑9‑22, §30‑9‑23, §30‑9‑24, §30‑9‑25, §30‑9‑26, §30‑9‑27, §30‑9‑28, §30‑9‑29 and §30‑9‑30 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended; and to amend and reenact §30‑9‑1 of said code, all relating to terminating the West Virginia Board of Accountancy; and providing deadlines for wind‑up activities of the board.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


That §30‑9‑2, §30‑9‑3, §30‑9‑4, §30‑9‑5, §30‑9‑6, §30‑9‑7, §30‑9‑8, §30‑9‑9, §30‑9‑10, §30‑9‑11, §30‑9‑12, §30‑9‑13, §30‑9‑14, §30‑9‑15, §30‑9‑16, §30‑9‑17, §30‑9‑18, §30‑9‑19, §30‑9‑20, §30‑9‑21, §30‑9‑22, §30‑9‑23, §30‑9‑24, §30‑9‑25, §30‑9‑26, §30‑9‑27, §30‑9‑28, §30‑9‑29 and §30‑9‑30 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be repealed; and that §30‑9‑1 of said code be amended and reenacted, all to read as follows:

ARTICLE 9. ACCOUNTANTS.


§30‑9‑1. License required to practice Termination of Board of Accountancy.

To protect the public interest in receiving accurate and reliable financial information and assurance, certified public accountants, public accountants, and accounting firms are required to be licensed as provided in this article.

(a) Pursuant to the provisions of section one, article nineteen, chapter thirty of this code, the West Virginia Board of Accountancy shall cease to exist on or before June 30, 2017.

(b)  Pursuant to the provisions of sections twelve and thirteen of article ten, chapter four, of this code, the West Virginia Board of Accountancy shall commence all necessary activities pertinent to the wind‑up of all board related activities. No later than June 30, 2017, the West Virginia Board of Accountancy and all related offices of the board shall be closed and all regulatory activity of the board shall cease.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to terminate the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.
